Reasons to visit our periodontist:

  • Regularly red or swollen gums.
  • Sensitivity and bleeding in the gums.
  • Feeling pain while chewing.
  • Receding gums or lengthier teeth appearance.

Periodontal Disease Can Be Dangerous

Sometimes, when performing an improper cleaning of plaque, it will harden and form tartar, leading to gingivitis. The acute form of gingivitis is usually called Periodontitis, thus causing your Periodontal disease to advance to a higher state. This creates gaps or pockets between the tooth and the gum line, which eventually leads to loss of bone.

Bone Loss results from untreated periodontal disease, as the bacteria spread beyond your gumline. If you lost a tooth due to periodontal disease, proper treatment would be advised, followed by a Dental Implant recommendation which may be the best option for you.

Gum disease or Periodontal Disease depends on the level of care you give to your teeth. It may even worsen if you ignore to visit your general dentist for proper, preventive evaluation. If you are a patient already in a periodontal disease phase, you should contact our dental office to book an appointment with our Periodontist – Dr. Kyle DeLuca. The mouth is full of bacteria that constantly create plaques that may lead to many oral health issues if not removed properly. Regular flossing and brushing tips are key ingredients to maintaining good oral health.
